The Regret Series
The first book, The Worst Regret, begins in Vermont in 1986 where Nice, must decide what rules to follow. The rules of love or the rules of duty in her relationships with her clients and her family. The next book in the series takes place on Womyn’s Land in New Mexico, six years later, where some of the characters from the first book now reside. Another book in the series takes place on the street-performing avenues of Honolulu in the 2010s. The stories are interconnected by parents, children, lovers, straight, gay, trans, lesbian, and bi-, struggling through the lies that have constrained them from becoming their best selves. There is love and hate, failure and triumph, and, of course, lots of regrets…so many regrets.
The Worst Regret
Winter. Vermont. 1986.
Nice Collins, a Child Protective Services caseworker, is sent to an isolated farm to investigate how a young girl broke her arm. Before she arrives, her car skids off the remote dirt road and into a snowbank. As the cold closes in, she fears she may freeze to death. When a stranger stops to help, Nice believes she can finish her assignment and move on with her life. She’s wrong. What begins as a routine case becomes something far more ominous.
